MAMODIS

MAMODIS - "MAss MOvement Detection and Identification System"

Automatic Detection and Identification of Alpine Mass Movements
based on a Combination of Infrasound and Seismic Signals

Lichtenberg

Snow Avalanche Detection

In cooperation with the Austrian railway company ÖBB a station of the MAMODIS system has been installed at the Lichtenberg avalanche path. The avalanche path extends from the summit Lichtenberg (1780 m a.s.l.) down to 1090 m a.s.l. where an avalanche dam has been build to protect the railway line between Reutte and Lermoos and the nearby road. MAMODIS is installed in the transit zone of the avalanche in a height of 1235 m a.s.l.. The detection system consists of a differential pressure sensor as infrasound sensor and a SM-6 geophone, together with a camera based on Raspberry PI (PICam). The system was installed in December 2021 and this Project is sponsored by the ÖBB.
