Seefeld
On 12.09.2023 a debris flow occurred near Seefeld in the district Innsbruck-Land in Tyrol. A regional train traveling on the railway line from Scharnitz towards Seefeld was hit and the federal road was also covered (ORF Tirol). After this event, the Austrian railway company ÖBB decided to install a monitoring system as an immediate measure until active protective measures are implemented. This torrent near Seefeld has a small catchment area of less than 1 km² from around 2030 m a.s.l. down to 1060 m a.s.l. where the railway line and the federal road are located. The monitoring system was installed in the middle part of the torrent at 1250 m a.s.l. The system consists of a MAMODIS station combined with a camera based on Raspberry PI (PICam) and was installed less than two weeks after the event.
