Rotgraben, Kühgraben
This two sites were chosen from the Austrian railway company ÖBB to test the system as a warning system of the Gesäuse railway line (Figure 1). The Rotgraben with a catchment area of around 1.5 km² and the nearby Kühgraben with an catchment area of 2 km² are located at the south of the summit Grossen Buchstein (2224 m a.s.l.). This two torrents endangers the railway line between Johnsbachtal and Gstatterboden which is now protected with a diversion dam and two debris flow galleries. The two systems consisting of Electret-microphones and a SM-6 geophones has been installed in June 2018. In case of an event the detection systems triggers via radio link the two cameras (based on Raspberry PI) down at the galleries. In 2021 the stations has been replaced by the new MAMODIS system based on a differential pressure sensor as infrasound sensor. This Project has been sponsored by the ÖBB.
