MAMODIS - "MAss MOvement Detection and Identification System"

Automatic Detection and Identification of Alpine Mass Movements
based on a Combination of Infrasound and Seismic Signals

Cancia

The Cancia channel is located on the left side of the Boite River valley, closed to Cortina d'Ampezzo, in the Eastern Dolomites (Italy). The catchment, with an area of 1,8 km², has its maximum elevation at 3066 m a.s.l. on the Mt. Antelao and goes down to the village Cancia at 880 m a.s.l.. Beside a monitoring system of the company CAE, three monitoring station has been installed in cooperation with the Dipartimento di Scienze Biologiche, Geologiche e Ambientali, Universitá di Bologna in 2019 (Figure 1a). This monitoring stations include two laser stage sensors, two rain gauges, several time-lapse cameras, geophones and the infrasound/seismic detection system. The installed detection system, which is located at Station 2, consists of an infrasound sensor and two SM-6 geophones (Figure 1b). Two raspberry cameras (PICam) are installed at Station 2 and 3, which are triggered via radio link by the rain gauge at Station 1 and the MAMODIS system.
