Rosensteinergraben

After a debris flow at the Rosensteinergraben in June 2017, which has damaged the state road B75 (Glattjoch-road) between Donnersbach and Donnersbachwald (Styria, Austria), a warning system that controls a traffic light at the B75 has been installed at this catchment. The Rosensteinergraben is part of the Wölzer Tauern and has a catchment area of 3.3 km² with a total length of 3552 m (Figure 1) from the watershed at 1980 m a.s.l. down to the outlet into the Donnersbach at 823 m a.s.l.. The warning system was only installed in 2017 and consisted of the system MOSES (Torrent and Avalanche Control, WLV), which is based on a flow height and velocity radar, in combination with the detection system based on an Electret-microphone and a SM-6 geophone. In case of an event both system had triggered over a radio link the traffic light which was located on the B75 around 600 m downstream.
