Punta Nera

From 2017 to 2020 the catchment Punta Nera has been equipped with the detection system (Figure 1). This very active torrent near Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Dolomite Alps (north Italy) has a catchment area of around 0.4 km² from the summit "Ponta Nera" at 2847 m a.s.l down to the state road SS51 at 1120 m a.s.l.. The catchment is equipped with very different monitoring systems like tilt sensors (for warning purpose - controlling a traffic light at the state road) flow height measurement, video camera and meteorological stations. The detection system installed in the middle part of the torrent consisted of an Electret-microphone and a SM-6 geophone.
